When he was 11 years old, Duncan moved to Wolverhampton Street School and his football career quickly move up to another level as he became a fixture of the County sides representing Dudley Boys, Birmingham Boys and Worcestershire Boys.
From County level, the natural progression was to step up to the England Schoolboy side, and despite being a year younger than the other boys vying for a place in the side Duncan was selected at 14 years old to face Wales at Somerton Park, Newport in
March 1951.
Duncan was by now taking everything in his stride. Nerves, if there ever were any, were hidden behind the confidence that transpired from every ninety minutes he played, but there would possibly have been an odd shiver going down his spine on the afternoon of Saturday April 7th, when he fulfilled a dream by running out of the Wembley tunnel to face Wales in the return fixture.
