In spite of earlier being approached by Aston Villa – Allan Clarke joined Walsall when he left school in 1961 - and made his debut for the Club at Fellows Park against Reading in October 1963.
He went on to score 46 goals in 82 appearances for Walsall over two seasons and was the clubs ‘Player of the Year’ in 1964 -65.
In March 1966 Allan left the family home in Short Heath to start a new life in London joining Fulham for a club record fee of £37,500.
He left Fulham for a spell at Leicester before joining Leeds in 1969 were he won a number of honours including the Fairs Cup (1971), the FA Cup (1972) and the First Division League Championship (1973-74).
Allan made his England International debut in 1970 and went on to score 10 goals in 19 appearances for his country.
On Thursday 2 November 2023 Allan Clarke will return to his Black Country roots to talk about his life in football with his brothers Derek and Wayne Clarke plus a number of very special guests who played a part in his football career.
